Manually installing from service partition?

#1 Post by hiver » Mon Sep 28, 2009 4:05 am

Hello forum,

I managed to copy the files from the (otherwise hidden) service partition of my T41, and am now wondering if I can manually reinstall to a new disk if I copy the files to a d drive partition, and install from there to a new C partition?

In other terms - is there an install exe or other way to reinstall windows from the extracted service partition files?

Thanks, Mads

If your BIOS has Restore enabled, and if you installed the recovery partition correctly, you should be able to get into the Recovery program by either hitting the blue Access IBM or the F11 key.
If not, get a set of recovery CDs.

Darnit, thats what I feared.

Oh well, that will teach me to cerify my image backup before messing up my NTFS partition with Linux...

Thx
