FOUND: T42/T43 14"
***FOUND, thanks for all the offers everyone!***
Hey everyone. My SL300 was stolen recently, so I'm in need of a "new" Thinkpad. I don't have a bunch of dough to spend, hence the reason I'm looking for a slightly older machine.
I'm looking for a good condition T42 or T43. A "p" model would be awesome, too. 14" screens only (14.1"...you know what I mean). I'd like it to be SXGA or higher as well.
I'm not incredibly knowledgable on the earlier T's...but if some were integrated and some were dedicated graphics, I need something with more graphics power, so obviously dedicated (Engineering student).
Looking for good battery life, I need to carry this around campus with me. So nothing that only works on AC power, or gets 45 mins of battery.
Not looking to spend more than $350, but if you have something exceptional that you think I must see, then still shoot the offer my way (ex: really high end, mint "p" model or something with all the bells and whistles).
Let's see em!

Re: WTB: T42/T43 14"
What price range are we discussing here?
Any other important guidelines that need to be met apart from battery life?

Re: WTB: T42/T43 14"
I have a T41 and two T42's on hand, all 14" models, see info below, PM me if interested;
They all pass all the GPU tests that I can throw at them. The LCD covers on the first two look very good, only minor scuffs. The third one has one small, faint cover scratch.
1) A fairly standard T42 with a few upgrades, 1.7GHz Dothan, 1GB RAM, XGA, ATI 32MB 7500 GPU, 40GB 5400rpm drive, Intel abg, CDRW/DVD, 2-2.5 hour battery, very good cosmetic condition (one small LCD hot spot on far left, shiny NMB keyboard, hairline crack in palmrest - almost impossible to see), $195 delivered. Model 2373-JTU
2) A fairly standard T41 with a few upgrades, 1.7GHz Banias, 1GB RAM, XGA, ATI 32MB 7500 GPU, 40GB 5400rpm drive, Intel abg, CDRW/DVD, 1.5-2 hour battery, very good to excellent cosmetic condition (LCD fine, slight keyboard shine), $195 delivered. Model 2374-8RU
So, the T42 has longer battery life and a Dothan CPU. The T41 is slightly better cosmetically. $195 each or take both for $375 delivered.
3) Mint, high end T42, barely used. 1.7GHz Dothan, 1GB RAM, gorgeous, bright & perfect SXGA+ LCD, ATI 64MB 9600 GPU, 40GB 5400rpm drive, Intel b/g, CDRW/DVD, 2.5 hour + battery (27 cycles on original battery), NMB/Thai keyboard, excellent cosmetic condition, one small scratch on cover, looks almost new. This machine was not used much. $250 delivered. Model 2373-8ZU
*Upgrade any of the above with a T4x DVDR/CDRW burner for $30*
*Upgrade any of the above to 2GB of RAM for $30*
*Upgrade any of the above with a T4x DVDR/CDRW burner & 2GB of RAM for $50*

Sent you a PM, underclocker.
And thanks George, I did forget some stuff. I Edited my original post but I'll reiterate below just so everything's clear:
>>Not looking to spend more than about $350, unless it's something exceptional like a really high end, mint "p" model or something.
>>Also asking that the screen res be SXGA or higher (not really looking for an XGA, sorry).
>>And I'm not 100% up to date on my earlier T series, but if they had options for graphics, I need something dedicated as I run AutoCAD and similar programs.
Thanks!

Re: WTB: T42/T43 14"
If you don't make a deal with Ed, drop me a PM. I have three machines that would fit the bill, one being T42p and 2 being T42 with SXGA+ LCDs and Radeon 9600 graphics. Can CTO if needed, but as I said, Ed was there first, and offered you a couple of interesting options.

Re: WTB: T42/T43 14"
Thanks, George.
Either way is fine with me. Please offer themightyquinn additional options, if he's interested, especially, if the pricing and/or features are more attractive. I have a feeling all of the machines will sell. You do get a lot for a little at this point.
