thinkpad T42 and 1600x900 extra monitor

will my T42 work with a monitor with 1600x900 resolution?

Yes, it will work. Any Thinkpad I have tried with an ATI GPU works fine driving my Samsung 2033sw which is 1600x900.

But it wont work correctly until you add your custom resolution to the windows registry. Use PowerStrip (demo) for that.
760ED -> 600X -> T22 -> T41 -> T42 -> T60

I didn't have to do anything to get 1600x900. If we're talking about an Intel GPU (not a T42), then that's a different animal.

Well, now I,m confused. My T42 is 2373-8zu . anything special I haveto do to get 1600x900 clearly?

I'm currently driving an eMachines 16:9 LCD at 1600x900 via VGA without any problems. Windows detected its native resolution and let me set it. I'd eventually like to move to the DVI port on my dock though, which I'm unsure about. According to ThinkWiki, the DVI port only officially goes up to 1280x1024.
