Display stays black

#1 Post by mjocham » Mon Oct 05, 2009 2:45 pm

Hello togehter,

my display worked up to 10 minutes ago, now it is black, all you can see is a little bit of the picture when you hold the notebook in the correct agle to a light. Any ideas? Do you think my backlight is broken?

Any help is apreciated

thanks

It sounds like the CCFL (backlight) went out on it. Which model Thinkpad is this?

It's a 6478-15G X300, do you think I have to send it to Lenovo for warranty repair?

Hi there again...

so, I did send it to Lenovo and they did the repair within 6 days... so far so good. As soon as I had it I installed Windows 7 on it, ran it for 2 days and... display / screen broken again! Same error, no backlight working on the LCD, but working with external monitor.

If you regard the whole thing technically, what can be damaged except the backlight LED, may be there is a power problem?

Any ideas? Or was it just bad luck?

Thanks to all

Mrcus

If you look at the repair invoice, what part was replaced?

Well, they would have replaced just the LCD panel, and not the entire assembly. So still suspect is the inverter and the LCD cable....and the systemboard as a final likely component. Send it back in.
