Screen Saver no longer runs on T61

Guys, I've done a bunch of searching on this matter and haven't come across a solution. I typically have my screen saver set to switch on and lock the system after 5 mins or so. For some reason it never comes on as of two weeks ago. I've switched it down to 1 minute of wait time and still nothing. I've watched Task Manager for any spikes or changes in CPU consumption and I see nothing during the 60 second wait. I've changed screen savers and tried some alternates...still nothing.

Does Lenovo Power Manager have any influence on the screen saver? Any settings that are configurable?

I've looked at some of the other common issues people report and can't come up with anything to correct it.

T61p with Vista Ultimate. I have what I think may be a related problem. I've disabled screen saver, disabled any and all configurable screen management schemes in both the screen saver panel and the advanced power management panels but my computer will go to the password/login screen in 15 minutes of no activity. I've even deselected requiring a password to come back in and it doesn't take. Let the machine sit idle for 15 minutes and it goes to the login screen, password required.

I suspect there is something going on with the Lenovo Power Manager applet, but I'll be [censored] if I can figure it out.

It may be a windows update problem - I've started having intermittent issues where my computer either will or won't go into screen saver after the alloted time (different computer brands, so I'm not sure it's a lenovo power manager thing).

OK, thanks, guys. I'd still like to find a resolution should anybody have additional suggestions.
