t42p won't load OS or bios

when i turn on my t42p running windows xp pro, i see the normal startup of ibm thinkpad and intel centrino, but if i hit the access ibm, f12, or just let it "boot" nothing happens, although the fans run, i know the hard drive has something wrong with it, but not sure what as of yet, but when it's removed i still can't access the bios/boot select. any tips?

After removing everything, drives, miniPCI card, CDC, and with only one DRAM SODIMM; can you get the BIOS screen by pressing F1?

Your Southbridge has come loose, and needs to be 'reballed'.
Check with GPU Medics. I had mine reballed recently, excellent job and quite cheap.

figured out it was the hard drive locking it up, restarted waited for bios to load, finally did, now have kubuntu running successfully.
