T42 can't load XP SP3

I get an error message when I try and download XP SP3. I did a manual load of it searching for the same (KB936929) and loaded it myself but my computer was very slow afterward so I unistalled it. Anything I should I do?

Even on the old PIII machines, such as T23, SP3 runs like a champ. You must have other software that makes your T42 so slow.
Do a bit of housecleaning using CCleaner (free download), check for free space on your HD (minimum 10-15% free).
Stop and disable the Indexing service.

SP3 works fine. It will, however, bog down and can cause application errors with anything less than 1Gb of ram. I have seen 512Mb machines through up application errors that vanished just be adding a memory module (no hardware errors or shortcomings). ... JDH
