Question about 2378FVU Samsung screen
Question about 2378FVU Samsung screen
I have the above model and screen, and I know that it is not a perfect display. Somewhat poor viewing angles, and the bottom of the screen is brighter than the rest of it. I assume that it is the same as yours, if you have this model, since I have seen two of them, and they are the same???
Anyhow, here is my question:
If you use one of the free dead pixel tester programs that puts a full screen of solid color up for testing, does the SOLID GREEN look worse than any other solid color on your panel?? This includes white, black, blue, and red.
Does the green look the worst, and appear uneven and "mottled" with large more shaded areas???
Just wondering?

I suggest you search for more topics on the subject, you'd get a better overview of the engineering quirks, faults and annoyances on the displays.

In regarding to your questions, the colors indeed are uneven, there's only one backlight tube that also is causing this. The displays actually are more or less equal, but eyes evaluating them are definitely not. I've seen 3 SXGA+ Samsung displays, all had color isuses, two of them had slow red pixel issues too, which you can more read about in this thread:

Green does look worse than blue, which is IMHO the best in color consistency.

What does "OP" mean??
Yes, I started that last quoted thread.
Since then, I decided to keep my 2378FVU, but I am still puzzled as to why the blotchiness only stands out in solid green screens with the Samgung panel??
Thought someone might have some new insight or information??

No idea whay my FVU has but it blows away the desktop flat panel sitting right behind it, not to mention all the laptops I've ever used.

Enter your 4 part machine # and serial #.

FRU# 92P6737 is Hydis
FPU # 11P8346 is IDTech
It is indeed a Samsung model. I just got the FVU a few days ago direct from HK.

It is not cost effective to replace an LCD panel, unless it is under warranty by the manufacturer. The cost of the LCD panel is a MAJOR percentage of the parts cost for the entire notebook.
