Ibm R40 Bios Update with Dead Battery

Hi all,

I've searched the Forum for this topic, but couldn't find anything.

I have an Ibm Thinkpad R40 (2681-BAG) & the Battery is Dead, but I want to Update the Bios so that I can fit an Ibm, High Rate, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi Card, Part No 39T0079, (originally from a T30).

I'm familiar with the Ibm web-site for downloads etc. & have downloaded the latest MsDos Floppy Bios Update.

Is there a way to trick the Laptop into thinking it has a Fully Charged Battery?

Specs are : Xp Pro - 30gb Hdd - 512mb Ram - 14" Lcd

Thanks for the Link Harryc, I'll give it a go.

I've downloaded the freeware Hex Editor, XVi32 to edit the File.
