my Thinkpad X61s and new WM3945ABG dosen't work ERROR1802

#1 Post by anostapchenko » Wed Oct 14, 2009 1:17 am

Good day!

Some days ago I have bought INTEL WiFi WM3945ABG MOW1 on Ebay.com from Honk Kong. But when I inserted this board in my X61s and restart it I have seen next message – ERROR1802 unauthorized mini-PCI wifi card pleas switch off your PC and remove it.
In this form I found a lot of discussion about the same problem with ERROR1802 and PCI wifi cards but unfortunately I still don’t understand how to solve my problem.

Dose it possible to use this INTEL WiFi WM3945ABG MOW1 with my X61s or not?
What do I have to do?

Some authors suggest upgrade BIOS version of X61s other ones rewrite internal sub-system ID of INTEL WiFi WM3945ABG MOW1. Also I found information about pin 20 isolation of INTEL WiFi WM3945ABG MOW1.

Which way is right for me?

BR Andrey

Please forgive me for me English it’s not my native language.

Unless you want to run a modified (hacked) BIOS on your X61s (plus tape pin 20 and the hardware wireless on/off switch may not work), you need the IBM/Lenovo version of the Intel 3945ABG. Other vendors or generic versions of the of this card won't work with the standard BIOS. I've got a few of these lying about as I've upgraded my ThinkPads to N-wireless cards (mosltly Atheros based). If you have PayPal, I'm happy to send you one for minimal cost plus postage. Send me a PM and we can work it out.

Cheers,
morkli.

@Morkli! Maybe you know information about link to modified (hacked) BIOS. Zender BIOS will fit for my problem?

Sorry, don't know of any link. I believe you need to send Zender a PM with your ThinkPad details and he will reply to you in time. Taping pin 20 plus a Zender BIOS should make your WiFi card work.

Cheers,
morkli.
