I think you've got everything you need as that's basically all I installed on my T43. With Ultranav you get some extra driver options (Fn-F8) and a different method of scrolling with the trackpoint. On the X301 I find tapping with the Ultranav to be very poor so I just use the stock driver on it. No problems on a T43 or W500 though.

Re: What one should/shouldn't install off Lenovo Win 7 Beta page
In my experience the ATI driver for Windows 7 provided by Lenovo is not meant for older ThinkPad models like T60p or Z61p (same graphics). I had obtained my graphics driver via windows update. Then later, when I discovered the new Lenovo drivers for Windows 7, I tried to install their ATI driver, but the setup program would only install the control center (without the driver). Apart from this, I think you have pretty much everything from the windows 7 drivers suitable for T60p. Everything else can be obtained from the Vista section.

Where would i find ATI control panel? Can't seem to find it.
Re: What one should/shouldn't install off Lenovo Win 7 Beta page
When you start the ATI setup program, choose the custom install option. This should allow you to pick only ATI CCC. Alternatively, you could install the newest version of CCC for Windows 7 by running custom install of some of the latest ATI driver packages for FireGL/FirePro.Dimitri_P wrote:Where would i find ATI control panel? I tried 3 versions - windows update, lenovo page and ati
neither installs the control panel.
neither installs the control panel.

Then something must be going wrong. What does the installation log say? You also need to have the C++redistributable package installed as well. It is included in the driver package (both Lenovo and ATI). Windows update installs only the driver.
EDIT:I think I have just found out what you were talking about. The ATI CCC option doesn´t show up anymore in the ATI setup program

Re: What one should/shouldn't install off Lenovo Win 7 Beta page
Solution: As of now, the only way to install and properly run ATI CCC for Mobility FireGL 5200 under Windows 7 RTM is to use the Vista driver package from ATI for FireGL 5200. Unpack it, but don´t run the setup, then patch it using Driverheaven´s Mobility Modder, start the setup program -> custom installation -> pick ATI CCC and the redistributable package (Hydravision should work too) and install them. I haven´t tried to install the driver as I don´t see any reason why to.

Yes, confirmed. Only if you use drivers from driverheaven website and their mod tool will you be able to have Control Panel working.
I tried to pull it off with drivers from Lenovo website or ATI/AMD mobile driver page - and after the mod tool driver wouldn't work, as well as Control Panel fails to start.
After I installed the driverheaven driver package and mod, my Win 7 performance index went from 4.2 to 4.3

Re: What one should/shouldn't install off Lenovo Win 7 Beta page
Was the driver package from Driverheaven that you installed specifically for Windows 7 or Vista or for both? Do you know whether it is some sort of additionally modified driver (aside from using the Mobility Modder tool)?

It was for vista 32bit
and I think you can mod an ATI windows 7 driver package, as long as it is a DESKTOP version...
Will try that in a few...

Tried with catalyst 9.9 - didn't work.
I'm sticking with Catalyst 8.12 on driverheaven website

Re: What one should/shouldn't install off Lenovo Win 7 Beta page
The Vista driver packages available on Driverheaven site seems to be quite outdated then. I´m currently using FirePro Catalyst Control Center v9.02 (for Vista). For the purpose I used the Vista driver package available directly from ATI. I was also able to modify the Windows 7 FireGL driver package using the Mobility Modder, the FirePro Catalyst Control Center for Windows 7 will install, but it dramatically fails to start properly, hence it´s pretty useless unless someone knows what fix is needed.

This is what I have working on my system:
Catalyst Control Panel - 2008.1201.1504.27008
Driver - 8.561.0.0000
Got this numbers during (before) installation of the drivers

Re: What one should/shouldn't install off Lenovo Win 7 Beta page
Sorry, I have mistakenly posted the driver version instead of the CCC version. The CCC version I am currently having is 2009.0211. I edited my previous post accordingly.
