What's wrong with my T43?

#1 Post by ulrich.von.lich » Sat Oct 17, 2009 5:23 am

Hello,

I have been a happy T43 owner.

Since its purchase in 2005, it has never given me any problem. But recently, I have experienced two "blue screen of death" in one week.

Here's what it says exactly:

*** Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
*** The system has halted ***

Could the problem be caused by a faulty memory stick? (I have two 1GB lenovo memory installed) Or could it be the video memory? (X300 in my case). Or hard drive?

I also reinstalled the OS recently. Sounds irrelevanted but the problem did appear right after.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Best Regards,
Tony

Maybe you want to run memtest on your memory if only to rule out a memory error.

Your cpu may be running too hot.
Could it be that you have TPFanControl set to some odd value and forgotten about it?
Did you reinstall TPFanControl when you reinstalled the OS?
What is your cpu temperature?
