Network Icon in taskbar always says "not connected" when...

#1 Post by vincevaler » Sun Oct 18, 2009 4:23 am

Even when I am connected to a network (my home router) the icon always stats "Not Connected" when I put the mouse over it. This bugs me as it used to always say "Connected to a network" before. Anybody have this problem?

You may have another adapter in your Network Properties that is being used for connection and not showing. Take a look at all your network adapters and delete any duplicates. You can rename them first to see what the name is of the adapter on your screen. ... JDH

Hello. That is your Device Manager. I was talking about Network Properties. There should be a Network icon on your desktop. Right Click on that and you will see all your adapter properties. You will see your network icons in there and there may be duplicates. Rename duplicates with unique names and see which one is showing up in the system tray. Pick the non-operative one and delete it.

Also, now that you have shown me Device Manager, there looks like duplicate devices in there and I don't know how that can be. You have 2 there that I don't understand. Do you have a cellular or air NIC installed in the computer? You should identify the hardware that goes with the 3 WiFi devices.
