Car power supply for ThinkPad ?
Car power supply for ThinkPad ?
I would like to be able to power my ThibkPad from the car power socket. I have been looking at the Thinkpad 72W AC/DC Combo Adapter 22P9019 but it seems expensive.
Any alternatives ?

Not that this will mean anything:
I bought the combo AC/DC adapter. I happen to like it, though it is a bit bigger. I keep one adapter in school and the AC/DC plugged in at home (or the car).

I have two DC adapters, one made by Lind that came with two outlets, one marked for for the TP 770 and the other marked for a Cannon printer; the second DC adapter is made by Xtend Micro Products and called PowerXtender - Airplane & Auto Adapter. The Xtend adaper came with a regular cigarette lighter male plug (fuse inside) as did the Lind. I've used both of these on American Airlines with either a TP600 or a T30, (my exclusive carrier, since they're the only one to fly to Trinidad & Tobago), and not on any other airline. Both have worked without problems, playing DVDs and charging the battery at the same time. About two years ago I did have another Lind (single outlet, none for a printer) and it failed after about four or five trips on American. BTW, American power outlets are "standard" like an automobile's cigarette lighter and they seem to be in about every other row in coach.

I have a couple of the Targus Auto/Air adaptors and I've had good luck with them in my car and on planes (American Airlines specifically).
I've used them with my T22, T41p, and now my T42 with no issues.
The Targus AC/DC adaptor I haven't had as much luck with. It seems to charge the battery, but the screen flashes and it seems obvious that the ThinkPad doesn't like it as much as the IBM OEM AC/DC adaptors.
