I like it a lot. It's great if you're still on dial-up, like me.

Re: changed from IE to opera again...
im not on a dial up but i got really impressed with the smooth scrolling, the spell checker (the kind that IE does not have) and the combination of speed and features. although they did complain too much about MS but i do forgive them for now
Re: changed from IE to opera again...
It could be faster, but just like the previous versions, the best all-around experience by quite some margin.mattbiernat wrote:what do you guys think of the new opera 10?
Opera Unite should be pretty fun once it goes final.

Re: changed from IE to opera again...
I use it all the time. For pages it can't render correctly i use FF or IE8.mattbiernat wrote:what do you guys think of the new opera 10?
Re: changed from IE to opera again...
I still just use IE. It does not present any problem of any kind to me. And everything I use renders properly in it. I would find changing browsers to see some website intolerable to me. I don't say anyone should use IE, just that it works fine for me. ... JDH

Re: changed from IE to opera again...
IE8 does work well but there were few things that bothered me that opera seems to accommodate better. more specifically its the spell checking ability and smooth scrolling with my trackpoint. IE interference on the other hand is less cluttered and smoother but functionality comes first.
Re: changed from IE to opera again...
I got tired of all the quirks of FF3 in Windows 7 and moved to Opera 10 minutes ago
I must say the extremely smooth scrolling in Opera is addictive and comes at the price of nice cpu load, but hell what´s Core 2 Duo then for
I´ll post more about it later, don´t have much time right now (I know, poor excuse after having moved all the bookmarks and some other user setting from FF3 to Opera).

Re: changed from IE to opera again...
I must say that ever since I switched to Firefox, I never felt like it was possible to move back.
Its interface is faster and cleaner than IE, and it offers so many nice extensions.
It is possible that Opera or another alternative has its advantages, but as long as I am pleased with what I have, I don't foresee making a switch.
I tried Chrome, which is supposedly faster, and yes, it is - but marginally so, and in a typical scenario the connection limits me more than the browser anyway.
I still use IE or IETab for the few websites that don't work well with Firefox (and their number is steadily on the decline).
FF3.5 has not been completely trouble-free though. There are a few websites, where Javascript for some reason overloads the CPU to 100% (50% actually, since dual core), and sometimes long moments of 10-20 seconds where it just freezes for no apparent reason.
Don't know if the problem is with 3.5, or just with my corporate laptop which is so choked up with junk. But so far I am keeping 3.0 on all my personal machines, and things work well.

Re: changed from IE to opera again...
One of the differences between my use and the last two posts is that I routinely disable smooth scrolling. I found it intolerable on slower machines and have never convinced myself to move back. Maybe that is one reason I see no need to move to a different browser on my Windows machine. I try the different browsers on my Linux machine. ... JDH

Re: changed from IE to opera again...
i found IE to give me the same trouble with smooth scrolling and i have disabled it too. opera on the other hand seems to have that option enabled by default since the scrolling is really smooth. i am curious thou, what browser you use on linux?
Re: changed from IE to opera again...
My Ubuntu machines use Mozilla Firefox. It works fine there. ... JDH
