Anyone heard of laptop killing new batteries?

#1 Post by WilsonF » Mon Feb 14, 2005 12:03 pm

Has anyone ever heard of a laptop killing new batteries?

We have a T41 with a dying battery. We gave it a new battery, which stoped charging at all after two days of use. We then gave the T41 another new battery (from IBM, different lot no from first) and the same thing happened.

We have tried both batteries (after the refusal to charge) in a T40 but were unable to get them to charge.

A new battery from the same lot as the first battery mentioned above was given to a different t41, and has continued in use with no problems.

It seems as though the T41 is killing batteries, although I can't figure out how that could happen.

Anyone have any ideas.

It's not a design fault or general fault or anything like that so far as I know, so you should probably have the machine serviced. (I have a T41)
