Installed Windows 7 64 bit on my X61s this morning. I purchased the downloadable .edu version. Encountered a permissions error at the end of the extraction process, but ignored it and proceeded to burn an ISO image using Nero. No problems during the install. Very smooth process overall.
After installation was complete, Device manager only showed one unknown device on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller. It was the ACPI Power Management driver which I downloaded from lenovo.
I am thinking about whether I need to install any other drivers. I am inclined to use the drivers provided by Microsoft unless I encounter stability problems. But if anyone has any advice, I'd like to hear it. Thanks.
X61s - should I install drivers from Lenovo?
