Re: Lenovo Forum Windows 7 Launch
I installed W7 Ultimate 64 upgrade (from Vista 64) on a T60P (with Core 2 Duo).
- I found that I had to reinstall the power and hot key drivers as well as the wireless AFTER installing W7 even though I had installed them before the upgrade.
I also found that the volume buttons no interface correctly with the Volume Mixer. The volume actually changes but the indication on the mixer does not. Similarly, when I use the vol buttons on the external keyboard, the on screen display does not show a change in volume but the mixer levels all change in unison.

Re: Lenovo Forum Windows 7 Launch
I have installed Win7 Home Premium in my X31, I did not see this topic and created my own one under the Windows 7 area:

Basically I had issues with the ATI drivers from Lenovo, the rest went ok...
Cheers

Re: Lenovo Forum Windows 7 Launch
Really wouldn't recommend the "upgrade" option. Lots of problems in the past. It's only a bit more work to do a clean install, but you'll notice the difference. Fewer problems if any.

Which is perfectly normal. This is how T60 works. Volume buttons on ThinkPads up to T60 are controlled by BIOS which means that they work independently of the operating system. This was changed starting from T61.jgrobertson wrote:I also found that the volume buttons no interface correctly with the Volume Mixer. Re: Lenovo Forum Windows 7 Launch
I installed W7 64 over Vista 64 on my T60P. I manually loaded all the drivers that Lenovo specifically identified for W7. As time went on, problems occurred. First I would get "no internet" on a wake up or restart. Had to do a cold boot. Then that progressed to not interent at all. Then the whole thing started to collapse where basic services would not run such as the installer. Could not do a repair from the DVD as it could not identify the drives in the system.
I ran the PC Doctor diagnostics from CD and everything passed. Then I reformatted the C drive (I keep data on the D partition) and did a clean install. Still setting it up but so far so good.
Seems that the upgrade over Vista 64 which was upgraded with SP1 and SP2 was just too much for it. Corruption must have got into the registry. Could not do a restore as they would not run.
Maybe I got hit with a virus. The major collapse occurred after two nights in a hotel in Greenville, NC. Those hotel WIFIs are dangerous as hackers can get in real easy.
