Windows 7

#1 Post by thnkpdrox » Thu Oct 22, 2009 7:21 pm

Now that windows 7 is out, how am i going to get it on my computer. are they going to send me a free copy or am i going to have to download it from somwhere?

also what is the difference between getting it from lenovo and buying a fresh copy. id assume its the preloaded software etc, but i would like to start with a fresh vista and just download the lenovo software that i need

Thanks

I can probably answer most of your W7 questions, but first you'd need to answer a few questions up front. What model is your Thinkpad? What OS came preloaded on it? Did you participate in Lenovo's free Windows 7 upgrade program when it ran? The fact that you mention starting with a fresh 'Vista', that implies that you want to do a Windows 7 upgrade. Is that correct?

it is a t400 preinstalled with windows vista 32 bit. i did buy it during the time where lenovo offered the free upgrade to windows 7.

sorry i meant to say i was either considering getting a fresh windows 7 (not vista). hopefully i didnt confuse you too much

its either a fresh windows 7 64 bit (my processor should be compatible) from the store or whatever lenovo windows 7, whatever that includes and however that works.

thank you

To make them send you a Windows 7 DVD, go to this website, click "request upgrade" and follow the instructions.
