drivers not working on Windows 7
why is my trackpoint driver not working on Windows 7? i have installed the x300 windows 7 specific driver and the utility is still not working. same goes for hotkey utility.
Re: drivers not working on Windows 7
Do you have Lenovo System Interface and Power Management Driver installed? Are you sure you have picked the right ultranav driver for your X300 (there are 2 different drivers available)?
IBM Lenovo Z61p | 15.4'' WUXGA | Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 2x 2.16GHz | 4 GB Kingston HyperX | Hitachi 7K500 500 GB + WD 1TB (USB) | ATI Mobility FireGL V5200 | ThinkPad Atheros a/b/g | Analog Devices AD1981HD | Win 7 x86 + ArchLinux 2009.08 x64 (number crunching)

Install Lenovo's System Update 4.0 and let it do the work for you.

Re: drivers not working on Windows 7
thanks harry, I did use System Update 4.0 and I got my trackpoint, the most important feature, to work. however my on screen display is still not working. do you think this is lenovo's fault or is it just my computer?Harryc wrote:Install Lenovo's System Update 4.0 and let it do the work for you.

Re: drivers not working on Windows 7
Doesn't matter whose fault it is. The OSD thing is very easy to get working. Install the System Interface driver, Power management driver, and the hotkey driver. If that doesn't work, uninstall all (3) drivers and try again. Install the System Interface driver first.
The other thing is, I don't see W7 versions of those drivers posted at the X300 driver matrix here;

I would use the drivers from here for now;

Re: drivers not working on Windows 7
In the Windows 7 section there are two ultranav drivers. The first one is for systems equipped with synaptics, the second one is for everything else. They should actually work for a great range of ThinkPads, including a plenty of models older than X300.

Re: drivers not working on Windows 7
thanks harry, i will try this out tonight. but i got bigger problem now, the microphone is not working... i want to uninstall it and reinstall it but i cannot find anything that says microphone under device manager.
Re: drivers not working on Windows 7
There wouldn't be a specific device called 'microphone' in device manager. It's function would be enabled as part of the sound driver.

Re: drivers not working on Windows 7
ok here is the trick that i did. i actually found the solution here
http://www.kombitz.com/2009/01/14/micro ... and-vista/
i had to lower the volume of microphone to zero and then back up to 100 and everything is miraculously working now. just go to get the display to work correctly now.

Re: drivers not working on Windows 7
I have found that even though it's on automatic, often tp4serv doesn't seem to work properly after boot.
You can tell this has happened because the middle mouse button doesn't work, and if you go to the mouse control panel the trackpoint tab is not there.
Simply restarting the "tp4serv" service fixes this. (in the service manager, or simply 'net stop tp4serv' then 'net start tp4serv' in a cmd window.
I tried setting it to 'automatic (delayed start)' in the hope of that being a more permanent solution but it just gives an error "delayed auto-start flag could not be set, error 87: the parameter is incorrect" :/
