Restuffing a 600e battery
Restuffing a 600e battery
I am going to try to restuff my 600e battery, but I don't want to break it. Is it put together with screws? What label are they under? Where do I get new cells?

Re: Restuffing a 600e battery
Factory battery case is either glued or ultrasonically welded together; there are no screws. Cells are 18650 (18mm long, 6.5mm diameter) and can be found online through Google searches.
However, I'd would not recommend that you attempt this refurbishing unless you have some experience with proper handling of "bare" Li-ion batteries (never, ever try soldering wires directly onto the battery; never, ever short out the battery leads) and good soldering skills.
I've used http://www.batteryrefill.com/ before to re-cell a couple of packs. What you get back looks like Dr. Frankenstein has worked on it, but it does perform adequately.

I've also used http://www.batteryrefill.com/ before, once to refill a 770 series battery. I was very happy with the result. Although, it cost a little more than buying a "new" generic battery on ebay.
Collection = T500 - R400 - X300 - X200 - T61 (14" WXGA+) - T61 (14.1" SXGA+) - T60 (15" SXGA+) - X40 - T43p - T43 - T42p - A30P - 600E

I was hoping they'd be more like AA or something similar.

Even I'm not *that* dumb (usually)

What would I be soldering, if not the battery?

From one of the links at the site I reference earlier:
http://www.milnoc.com/TP600Battery/Inside.html
Metal tabs need to be soldered onto the plastic film in at least 8 places.

I have redone an A31 with outstanding results, the long narrow batterys are easy enough to tackle, but you wont save any dollars. The "crooked" batteries like the T20-t30 and R32-R40 are a nightmare, because you cant get the tabs going the right directions.
My A31p gets more than 1 hour on the reworked battery, no issues. 31p get horrible life to begin so I guess Im getting my $30.00 worth.
