R61 Firewire question

I am considering a R61 for a setup where I have two video cameras capturing video, connected via Firewire. I currently have a setup where both Firewire run through a PC card adapter. The result is a lot of jumpy video. My question is whether the Firewire port on the R61 runs separate from the PC slot and wouldn't impact the video coming into the system via a PC card.
