Welcome to the forums!

When you switch on the machine press the blue Access IBM button and that should provide you with a load of recovery options; one of which is to restore to factory settings.

You can find out what machine you have by turning it upside down and looking at the printed label. It will give machine type and model (NNNN-AAA) e.g. 1871-FWG. On the right hand side of the panel just below the LCD screen is a model identifier e.g. T41 or T42.

I hope this helps. :)

Then you need to buy a set of recovery disks. Try the Marketplace forum on this site. Good luck.

2373 and/or 2374 are all the same..
the recovery process rebuilds the OS to what it sees in the second stage of the process..

what you need to do is ask for a copy for your thinkpad..
which is it..?
T41 or T42..?

You already tried the blue Access button, and no recovery partition showed up.
So you'll need a set of recovery disks.
