T21 wifi recommendations please

I want to make my T21 part of my home wifi network which is 802.11g

can anyone recommend a wifi dongle or pcmcia card that will definately work with this model please?

I have usb2 connectivity on the T21 through a pcmcia usb2 adapter

have had one bad experience already but thats dealt with now and am looking for recommendations that will definately work please, what do you use?

I have used this on T22, T23 and T30's

It has always worked, I dont know why it would not work on a T21.

thanks for that suggestion mate certainly looks like a good bit of kit

unfortunately i just realised my pcmcia usb2 adaptor doesnt make it possible to fit another adaptor into my spare pcmcia slot unless its a hide inside type

so im really after the equivalent but in a dongle

If you want PCMCIA wifi on your T21, you'll have to get rid of the USB2.0 card.
Your machine has only one USB 1.1 port, which is useless for your purpose.
Best advice: if you are not willing to sacrifice your PCMCIA USB2.0 card, get a newer laptop.

i dont want pcmcia wifi on my t21


i want a wifi dongle that plugs into my pcmcia usb2.0 card


i also already have a newer laptop


a T42p, and a few others


but i really like my T21 and would like to connect it to my wifi home network

i also would prefer to keep my T21 over any of the crud lenovo is chucking out these days


you see i mistakenly bought one of their netbooks in the belief it would be comparable with my other IBM quality machines

Looking at your previous post (and the ensuing disaster) I don't think that a USB dongle in the PCMCIA card is the solution.

Several dongles are also USB 1.1 compatible, amongst them Belkin F5D7050.
Plug it in your original USB port, that should work for you.

The Wifi USB-dongle will not work on your PCMCIA card.
The dongle needs 5V power supply from the native USB port.
The USB-port of the PCMCIA adapter only supplies approx. 3,5 Volt.
Basically all Wifi USB dongles should work on the native USB-port.

i'm writing this to you on my T21 which has a wifi dongle plugged into the pcmcia usb2 4 port adaptor thats powered by a link to the ps2 mouse input!

bit more complicated than my T42p setup, but it works!

oh and now i have a 56mb connection i cant tell the difference between my t21 and my t42, hurrah! god i love this old machine, it made me so much money on poker back in the day i would never get rid of it, so many fond memories
