T500: 64 or 32 bit Windows7
T500: 64 or 32 bit Windows7
I am going to buy new T500 notebook next week. And upgrading Windows to W7 Business. And add extra 2GB memory, total of 4 GB.
Software I have: MS office, Acronis Trueimage 2009, Omnipage pro 17, Mindmanager 7, Adobe photoshop elements 7, Agnitum outpost pro 6.7.1 firewall, 3G stick (USB) from Huawei, Earthbrowser, Diskeeper 2009 Home and other smaller utilities.
Can anyone tell me should stay in 32 bit operating system? Or right away install 64 bit operating system?
I understand that 64 bit is faster, but consumes more memory. Any other problems I should expect with 64 bit?
I tried to find out if any of these products I have, have any problems with 64 bit. I have not found any.
All I found out was that Diskeeper Home may not work in W7 Business.

Re: T500: 64 or 32 bit Windows7
No loss with Diskkeeper home. There are other defrag programs out there, probably none better than the Windows 7 internal defrag utility. I'd recommend that you go straight to 64bit. It is slightly faster under certain conditions. I am going with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on my T500. Once I receive the upgrade disc from Lenovo that is ...

I made a recent T500 purchase - vista business 64 and with the w7 upgrade (W7 Pro 64bit). First experience with vista and 64...long overdue to 64 bit. I sure felt it was time.

Re: T500: 64 or 32 bit Windows7
I've been using 64 bit since 2007. I had 64 bit business on my old R61, and now 64 bit Win 7 Pro on my T400s. The previous poster is absolutely correct: 64 bit is the future. Go for it.
Re: T500: 64 or 32 bit Windows7
I am running win7 64 bit on a T500 and its flying . 64 bit will also regognise all of your 4gb of ram.where 32bit only regognises 3gb or sometimes only 2.5gb.
