TP770ED battery charging question for ogg

#1 Post by Ivo » Tue Feb 15, 2005 10:25 am

I saw on some of yours previously posts that you manage to charge battery while trying to update BIOS with discharged battery. Like when BIOS 'saw' that battery is not fully charged, Thinkpad began to charge it. Do you remember which version of BIOS was installed then which allowed to charge battery? Did you have any options to actually check battery before BIOS update or just option to begin updating BIOS process which triggered charging? (I have just 2 options: red before updating BIOS and update BIOS) Did you have some kind of menu like in easy setup for checking battery?

Thank you,

Ivo

I wrote a quick private reply to you before I noticed this message. For my 770x, the BIOS update simply refused to cooperate unless the battery was charged (showing 90% or more in the LCD display). I don't remember doing anything in particular to make the battery charge up and to show a high % in the display. I just remember being really frustrated and simply removing and re-insterting the battery. Maybe at one point the contacts were "good" because the 770x LCD display simply started showing that the battery was charging! and the % number was increasing! When the number reached 90% or more, that is when I did the BIOS update with a bootable CD version of the "floppy".

I am not sure if I answered your question. But you know how to reach me.
