Upgrading Bluetooth to W-LAN eqipped R51

#1 Post by jeeva » Tue Feb 15, 2005 6:12 pm

Hello at all

I have got a R51 with built-in W-LAN (Intel PRO/Wireless 2100B), and I want to add bluetooth. Do I need an additional antenna or must I only replace the modem with the Bluettooth Modem Card?

Would it be easier to just buy a Bluetooth USB-Stick or PCMCIA-Card? What is cheaper?
IBM ThinkPad R51 1829-DRG
Intel P-M 1500 MHz
768 MB RAM

Sorry for my English, I speak german.

Check the Hardware Maintenance Manual:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mo ... 2p2255.pdf

On page 84 (of the PDF), you can see how change the Modem/Bluetooth Card.

You would need at least :
-IBM Integrated Bluetooth III with 56KModem (BMDC-2) 91P7319
- Bluetooth wireless antenna, 15.0-in. 13N5179

If you want to button and the Bluetooth LED at the bottom of the screen, you will require some more parts for the screen (inverter with bluetooth button, Clear Plate)

This is a rather difficult....

It would much cheaper to use a USB key, but much less elegant.... ;)

Ok, at the moment my budget does not allow an elegant solution.

Thanks
