I'm aware that those have a different HAL, but know enough about the TP Recovery to know whether there were 2 different sets. Those disks are happily recovering a ATI chipped R52 "as we speak", so I know they work for those models.
R52/T43 Recovery Disks for Intel GPU?
R52/T43 Recovery Disks for Intel GPU?
I've never tried it before, but now have a project in hand that has now created the question. I have a compete set of R52/T43 recovery disks. I believe these are for the ATI GPU machine, but don't know for sure. Can anybody give me a definitive answer on whether they can be used on the Intel GPU'd machines?

The same recovery set works for 1) ATI GPU R52's, 2) Intel GPU R52's, 3) ATI T43's, and 4) Intel T43's.

Re: R52/T43 Recovery Disks for Intel GPU?
One follow up admendment to the Recovery Disk thing for the Intel machines. Yes indeed, it does work and will recover the machine, but you just have to go to the Lenovo site and get the vid-adapter drivers for the Intel GPU or the resolution won't set right...especially if you have an "non-regulation" SXGA+ screen in it. As soon as the new driver utility runs, the screen sets itself.

Re: R52/T43 Recovery Disks for Intel GPU?
I have used a T30 set on A31 and A31p, T40 and R51. The A31 and A31p I did not have to load anything else. the T40, it loaded enough to get me to the IBM website (about 3 or 4), and I loaded the rest from there. the R51 I had to add the network driver via burned cd, then I got the rest from IBM (about 7 or
. Oddly though in every case, the machine "knew what it was" with all of the IBM extras, before I connected them to the net. Im thinking the recovery disks, regardless of the model are 80% to 90% the same software, with only the drivers revised.

Re: R52/T43 Recovery Disks for Intel GPU?
You might have issues there...the HAL is entirely different.
R40 disks are the age of A31-T40, which means much older than the machines you intend to use them on.
Will it work? Yes, with a lot of added drivers.
Are you risking a BSOD somewhere along the way with a different HAL? Quite possibly.
Good luck.

Re: R52 (1847AGU) Recovery Disks
I have an R52 (1847AGU) that crashed after my daughter downloaded a movie
, do not have the recovery disks and the virus is not letting me use the recovery/rescue function.
What would be the correct disk to look for?
Thanks!
Michel

Re: R52/T43 Recovery Disks for Intel GPU?
Well, I have an update on this now....I tried to do a restore on a Intel GPU/Celeron M version R52 last night and it went fine for all the disks right up till it wanted the "Supplimental" disk, after that, it apparently didn't get what it needed and repeatedly kept asking for all of the disks in order...then the supplimental disk and the process all over again.
Very odd, I've never had a machine do that before; either Intel or ATI, so it's a mystery to me. Anyone else seen this before?

Yes, I've seen it on a T60 once...format the drive and start fresh. If that doesn't help, PM me your address and I'll send you the "supplemental" disk for T43.

Re: R52/T43 Recovery Disks for Intel GPU?
Thank; that's what I figured. I just wanted to see if anybody had and idea of what happened. I planned to pull it out tonight and delete the partition and start over.ajkula66 wrote:Yes, I've seen it on a T60 once...format the drive and start fresh. I do have the supplemental disk and I just used it 2 weeks ago, so it was a mystery when it started acting like I didn't have it.

Re: R52/T43 Recovery Disks for Intel GPU?
Well, it looks like the mystery is solved. Apparently the old 40Gb hard drive wasn't up to snuff. I'm certainly not privy to the inner workings of the restore software, but I'm guessing that there must be some function that runs some sort of check on the HDD. ....and it didn't like what it saw!
Although, in an external enclosure, the disk acts fine, it must have fail this test. When I replaced it with another HDD, the whole restore process went fine.
