getting devive error--networkcontroller....

#1 Post by T400plus » Mon Nov 02, 2009 5:27 am

MY T41 -2374 (1.6MHZ,centrino,14"") is giving the above error after installing a whole lot of drivers fromlenovo. I feel it is the wireless card as the Gigabit network is working with the net at 100 Mb /s network.
Which is the driver i require to make that yello error stop nagging me every time I boot my T41.

What is the 7-character model number of your T41?

What error exactly are you getting?

the text at the bottom says 2374-1FU.
The romwhere the settings are stored seems to be corrupted as it displays a funny string when I tried using lenovos device drive update program...
I have T400 which was sent for checking the night lamp and they managed to replace the motherboard for that but damged my xp upgrade on that machine. If I had a seperate XP I could have attempted a rescue but without that I gave up as Lenovo's rescue starts with formatting my HD first. The thinkpad engineer at IBM centre in mumbai is really busy with my
contraption as of now , I requested him to at at least upgrade the supplied XP 2 to Xp 3 and to make my T400 work . :)

Your model specs say 1.4GHz, Intel 802.11b wireless. Given that someone appears to have upgraded the CPU, they may have upgraded the wireless card also. Having said that, the update software should automatically recognize the card. Bear in mind other "network adapters" can show up in Device Manager as well as ethernet and wireless (both hardware and software, eg the AOL software "network" adapter).

problem resolved with 80211.b driver.
Thanks to those who replied with information.
:D
ps: Nice to know the cpu is a upgraded one and not the original 1.4...very very unlikely ..I feel that the original buyer must have opted for a upgrade to 1.6.
