What's the advantage of C/SWTOOLS.

My T400 is ,2.8GHz , 4G Ram, 160 HHD, LED , 9 cell. It's amazing
After I did the Factory Backup using 1 CD and 2 DVDs , I discarded them cause one of the DVDs had been scratched . I tried to do another Backup but I couldn't then I knew that I can only do Factory Backup for one time I realized that the drive (Q) became useless so I deleted it.
Now I'm going to upgrade to Win7 but I want to have a Backup of current system.
My questions:
1- What's the advantage of C/SWTOOLS.
2- What's the advantage of (S) drive after I lost the (Q) drive.
3- How can i keep a backup of the DRIVES.

Since Lenovo has special features like C/SWTOOLS, it's very important to mention it's use.

It seems to be very easy question Or it's very difficult. Could anybody help please?

this directory has apart from other trash a directory called drivers .you may upgrade with thinkvantage and then backup this directory so that you may use and xp/vista media to install the os.The ones which come sleeping like lazy maharaja on our very own HDs are just space guzzlers .---They are obsolete by the time you receive the box from the vendor....You have to the update +++..
best is preapare a slipstrim of your setup and be happy till you get more money to buy the next generation cutes.
