Heard on last nights news the industry is wanting to phase out DVDs for the new Blu-ray standard. Got to thinking, does anyone make a reader or burner for the T4x series? Couldn't find anything searching our forums, nor with google.
Ebay has listings for a Panasonic Blu-Ray BD Player UJ-120 which is an external USB DVD Drive. Sure sells for a reasonable enough price! Hmmm, will they work with a T41?
Anyone know of a Blu-ray burner for the T4x Ultrabay?
Anyone have experience to pass along with Blu-ray and T4x series?
Blu-ray and T41?
Blu-ray and T41?

Re: Blu-ray and T41?
The T41's CPU probably doesn't have enough oomph to do Blu-ray well if at all. Because of the slimness of the drive and the connector issues, you can pretty much rule out aftermarket drives. The only PATA Blu-ray drive Lenovo offered was for the R series, fits some of the Z series too, but it's too big height wise for the T series. I did see a PATA 9.5mm Blu-ray drive on Engadget a few years back, but that was the only time I ever saw it.

Re: Blu-ray and T41?
Well, I'm not familiar with Blu-ray. My laptops can run these videos fine:

So do you think they can play Blu-rays with an external USB drive?

Re: Blu-ray and T41?
Buy one and report back. I don't have Pentium M machine. It would be difficult for me to say with any certainty.. I can tell you at times Blu-ray playback struggles on my R60 with a Core 2 Duo with both cores reaching near 100%.sojourner wrote:So do you think they can play Blu-rays with an external USB drive?
