Well, I can tell you about your memory question. Yes 256 is base included in system, next is 512 with 2X256 modules and the third would be a single 512 module. The explaination is wrong on the site it should read 1 Non Parity DDR SDRAM SoDIMM PC2700. IBM site is rife with mistakes so you kind of have to read between the lines. As far as the battery goes, couldn't tell you. As far as I know, the T series all take the same battery and I don't believe there is more than one of each kind, 6 & 9 cell. Maybe somebody else will know.

Nope, the lower price is you install it yourself, the higher price is IBM installs it. Couldn't tell you on the battery, call the phone number, you can sometimes negotiate with them as well.

As far as I can tell, the battery listing is a special promo for the Express
models. You get an extra 6 cell battery for $59 or an extra 9 cell battery
for $99. The 6 cell one is not really free, looks like a typo.
You save from $44 to $50 off the IBM price, depending on which discounts
you have.
