Help! T42 + BMDC200, headset profile not detected (1.4.3.4!)
This one is baffling me. I upgraded my T42 hardware from a generic USB BT dongle (that came with blue solei, what a great bluetooth stack!) to the BMDC200 and antenna from ebay. PAINFUL set up process, but I have that all sorted out. good!
So, it comes down to the headset profiles. My BT hardware using the USB dongle and blue solei works perfectly.
Using the BMDC200 and Blue Solei works perfectly, but is evaluation status so limits me to 5 MB transfer.
Using the BDMC200 and the microsoft stack shows the headset profile as unavailable. No surprises there.
----
But installing the IBM drivers (version 1.4.3.4) is supposed to work, isn't it? I have that driver set (bthwxp10.exe) installed right now. It's operating without fault. I connect to my cell phone, a bluetooth mouse, I can scan for laptops, there appear to be no problems.
I can pair to the BT audio device no problem. And I KNOW the audio device is "headset profile" capable because it works like a champ in Blue Solei. But the IBM 1.4.3.4 stack tells me that (just like the windows enumerator) the headset profile is not available for my device!
Has anyone else run into this issue and gotten around it?
Thanks,
Steve

Re: Help! T42 + BMDC200, headset profile not detected (1.4.3.4!)
Update on further troubleshooting:
Using the USB dongle and blue solei:
I pair the device and blue solei shows me available services. Only one shows up, it's called "AV service". Headset profile is NOT shown as available. I pair and connect using "av service" and I can then use my audio device no problem (to play audio from my PC. works like a champ.)
Using ANY BT hardware and windows enumerator:
I pair the audio device no problem then use the windows service to scan for available services. It's blank. This is well documented online and understood well. Limitation of the firmware. Moving on.
Using the BMDC200 and bthwxp10.exe:
Similar to the windows enumerator. I can pair the audio device no problem. I then scan for available services, and none show up. No services! I know the firmware is capable of providing "Headset" services and "Audio Gateway" services, but neither show up as being supported.
disappointing! I'm not prepared yet to shell out $30 for a non-MAC address-limited copy of blue solei. Especially when this firmware is supposed to be supported by lenovo and made for our hardware specifically! But very odd that blue solei works and this does not!

Welcome to the forum.
Have you tried removing the Lenovo BT software and use the Windows BT services? The Lenovo/Broadcom/Widcomm driver software for the BMDC200 had not been updated in recent years. So the device and service list is very limited.

Thank you for the welcome.
I've definitely tried using the microsoft bluetooth stack. I actually prefer using microsoft services above all others, regardless of its user unfriendliness.
But it is well documented on the internet that the microsoft bluetooth enumerator does not support bluetooth audio. I wish it did! It's the only functionality I am trying to enable that the MS stack doesn't support.

Thanks.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to make the existing hardware work? Has anyone else run into issues with a piece of hardware they KNEW offered a service but found that, initially, the widcomm 1.4.3.4 stack didnt offer the service? and fixed it? without resorting to USB plugging hardware upgrades?
