Can't Disable 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter

A few days ago, when I turned my T42p off, it installed a bunch of Windows updates. When I turned it back on, I noticed that I couldn't access my wireless internet anymore.

I was using the IBM access connection thing, so I turned that off and just let Windows take care of the wireless, but no progress.

I can't disable the Wireless Network Connection in the Network Connections menu. When I try to uninstall or disable the 11a/b/g wireless adapter from Device Manager, the Device Manager just freezes. I've also tried uninstalling the "IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter Software" from Add or Remove Programs, but that also just freezes the Add or Remove Programs window. When all of this first happened, when I pressed Fn + F5, I would see only the Bluetooth wireless radio option (where you can turn it on or off), but the wireless internet option wasn't there. However, now, Fn + F5 doesn't even work at all. Oddly, however, the green light that shows that the wireless radio is on (right below the screen, next to the green lights for Bluetooth, Num Lock, Caps Lock, etc.) is on the whole time. I've also tried to System Restore to a week (as well as a month) before the windows update I mentioned before, but the computer keeps failing the restore every time.

Could anyone share their knowledge and expertise? It feels like the wireless adapter is still there, but my computer just can't get to it!

Try installing Thinkvantage System Update, it will update all your drivers which are provided by IBM/Lenovo.

Scan your machine for malware first.
