Windows Wireless Service fighting with Access Connections

#1 Post by mattfromomaha » Mon Nov 09, 2009 7:37 pm

Since upgrading to Win 7 and the newest Access Connections (5.41), Windows Wireless Service keeps showing up in my Access Connections menu as running my wireless. It also keeps connecting to an access point down the street rather than my own, so I have to switch to get to my printer and NAS.

Anyone know how to disable this Windows Wireless Service or give Access Connections priority?

I apologize if this has been covered, but I tried to search "Windows Wireless Service" and the response bar says it ignored "windows" and "wireless" which isn't very helpful!

Thanks! :help:

I am not in Windows 7 to check, but in previous versions of Windows, it was the Wireless Zero Configuration service that controls this. You should be able to disable the service from Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services (or perhaps a similar location in Win 7).
