Ruined IC on T42 system board
Hi. I have a T42 Model 2379R9U with a 27K9912 system board. One of the IC's are ruined, but unfortunately I can not read the entire specification (since it is broken)
I have attached a photo of the chip. Any help on how I can get a new IC is greately appreciated. Best regards Søren

Hi Søren and welcome to the forums.
Unfortunately your photo has not appeared on your post - please note there are strict forum rules about photos:
Also could you send another photo of the position of the chip on the board as well.
Nick

I may be able to send you a replacement IC - if it's easier for you, please send a copy of the photo to my email nick@reflowrepairs.com .IF you must add a photograph to your post, PLEASE limit the size to 50k or less and place a warning in the subject line.
Also could you send another photo of the position of the chip on the board as well.

Re: Ruined IC on T42 system board
Please check the photo rules on the forums (see my last post).
Yeah I have one of those - however you need to find out why it's blown because I believe its one of the main supply MOSFETS and if I send you one it will probably blow again.
I'll send you one if you can PM me your address details.
<EDIT> Can you also check for burnt components around the bottom right hand corner of the DC Connector receptacle - for exact location refer to this document. On page 1 they're inside F2 circled location, and if you go to page 3 F2, you'll see the tiny components below the fuse.

Re: Ruined IC on T42 system board (incl Image)
Hi. Thank you for the comments. The IC burnt because my wife spilt a tiny bit of coffee next to the touchpad.
Anyway I, hope the coffee only went to this single IC (I cannot see any other burnt components)
Nick, I would very much appreciate if you could send me a replacement IC. I will send my address details to your email. Thank's in advance.
I have placed a link to a picture of the burnt IC here:

Hi Søren
I've received your email with your address and the photo attachments.
I'll arrange to send the IC to you hopefully tomorrow, but for certain on Monday.
Please could you remove the picture and put it as a URL link - it is a very important rule of the forums here.
Thanks!
Nick

Re: Ruined IC on T42 system board
Hi Nick. Unfortunately this wasn't the entire problem. I have soldered the IC, but it did not change the overall problem: The computer does not respond when I press the power button. Anyway, thanks for your kind help, I really appreciated that. I might check up on the fuses..or buy a new thinkpad.
All the best
Søren
