X60 T Why do I have a touch screen??

#1 Post by mpcook » Sat Nov 14, 2009 10:33 am

I recently purchased an X60 Tablet 6363-AD2 which comes up on the Lenovo website as "like 6363-4GU" with 12.1in 1024x768 LCD -- MFR#13N7200 FRU#13N7203 XGA LCD, PROTECTION PLATE, DIGITIZER.

When I purchased the machine (with onsite warranty) on ebay it was advertised as Tablet "not finger". OK, that's not the technical term but I had no indication of a multi-touch screen. In fact, I am always very careful NOT to touch my screens, so I likely never did touch it.

Until...here is where I get confused...I had onsite warranty service to replace the system board and LCD. The tech came to my home and swapped everything out very quickly and efficiently. Everything worked great afterwards; I was a happy camper. The only thing I noticed was a slew of fingerprints on the brand new the screen. I left them there for a few days. Today, I got out my micro fiber cleaning cloth. My hope was a few light swipes would get the screen looking like the new screen that it was. I was shocked that as I swiped the screen, icons starting moving around!

So do I have a "multi-touch" screen - how do I confirm this, other than my finger does "work". All indications from the Lenovo website are that I should not have multi-touch. It appears they shipped and installed the wrong screen. I was told my screen was backordered and would take at least 10 days. After about 3-4 days, it was shipped so maybe they shipped the "wrong" one?

I am new to tablets and touch screens, so maybe I am confused. Can you set me straight?

Unless you have an RC circuit built-in your hand, you have a touch screen now. Your lucky day :)
