T41 blown microphone port

#1 Post by McGarry » Sat Nov 14, 2009 4:50 pm

I did a very silly thing and tried to rip an album using my turntable, my amp, and my T41's microphone port, which promptly overloaded and died. I guess I can get a PC Card or USB sound card to work around the problem, but is there any way to actually repair the port ... or whatever is behind it? What exactly blew, anyway?

Thanks!

Hi

The microphone in is for low level signals only. Connecting it to the high level line output from an amplifier will probably blow the first op amp chip associated with the mic input.

Have a look at this post which is about the same topic, and suggest using a docking station which has suitable line inputs.
