TP Protection and Warranty Extension Confusion??
TP Protection and Warranty Extension Confusion??
I just bought a new T42. I called IBM today to add some extra warranty and protection. I wanted TP Protection (accidental damage) AND extended warranty (manufacturer defect). I think part number 03R0033 is what I wanted but the website is confusing. The description only mentions TP Protection and its accidental damage coverage. Nothing about EXTENDED WARRANTY. I have attached the description below. The title says TP Protection PLUS Depot Service Pak Could someone explain it to this newbie.
TIA

TP Protection HAS to be bought with a concurrent (or longer) period of either on-site or depot coverage.
BTW, 4 years is the max they sell for Protection, 5 years is the max for warranty.

The title says 4 Year Depot Service Pac. Is that the same thing as Extended Service (for manufacturer defects)?
The web site shows two categories: ThinkPad Protection and the another one is the IBM ThinkPad Protection - 4 Years Plus 4 Year Depot ServicePac. What is the difference? There is about $80 difference in price IIRC.
Thanks for clearing this up.

I'm not sure what you're looking at unless you send me the links... but I will guess:
If the title starts with "Protection" it is for accident/damage protection. The one that is $80 less is probably for a shorter period......or the difference is whether they combine it with depot )cheaper) or on-site service (they must match)

The first one is $244, second is $322. What is the difference?
I just want accidental AND manufacturer defect coverage for 4 years. My original warranty is only 1 year. What do I have to order to get BOTH coverages?

ok... got it.... either one extends a depot warranty for a longer period of depot AND includes Protection.... the cheaper one is for upgrading a machine that has 3 yr . warranty already... the more expensive one (the one that you need
) , is for upgrading a machine that has only one year warranty......buy it and you will have both (it is a VERY good deal!
