No Office 2003, but still patches via Windows Update.

I have upgraded from Office 2003 Pro to Office 2007 Pro recently. All software were upgraded except for Infopath 2003, which is not included in Office 2007 Pro.

Today, I got a notification about available security patches and updates. There were 4 patches in total, one was the newest version of Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool, but the other three were all Office 2003 updates, namely Office 2003, Word 2003 and Outlook 2003 (Junk-Filter update).

How come I am still receiving Office 2003 updates, although I'm not running it anymore? Could it be related to Infopath 2003, the only remaining Office 2003 component on my system?

Any ideas?

If you don't need/use it, uninstall it.
As long as you have any part of a particular suite left on your PC/laptop, you will get updates for the (even formerly) installed parts.
