Upcoming W701 at FCC

Applicant is Wistron Corporation.

Model name is PU5-W701

Two configurations were tested.

Configuration 1 (Dual Display)

CPU : Intel 2.0Ghz (probably Core i7-920XM)
LCD : LGD - 17" WXGA (Model: LP171WP9-TLB2)/ TMD - 10.6 WXGA (Model: LT106DEVDB00)
HDD : Fujitsu 320GB * 2

Configuration 2 (Single Display)
CPU : Intel 2.0Ghz (probably Core i7-920XM)
LCD : Samsung 17" WUXGA (Model: LTN170CT08-L01)
HDD : Fujitsu 320GB * 2

Nice find. Maybe I should have waited a few more weeks for the prices to really come down on the W700! An i7 based W701 would definitely be a monster, but I have to say this RAID 0 SSD config with the "hot" quad core (45W) is pretty screaming fast. I'd love to try XP on it but I'm really hoping my XP only apps will either run in Windows 7 64, or in a virtual machine. I just have no idea how to get XP loaded into a virtual machine when I don't have any XP Pro media other than the restore discs.

Can we expect a thinner W 710 ?
