4in1 card reader , SDcard problem

#1 Post by louisJ » Wed Nov 18, 2009 11:58 am

Hi

I have a T400 (6474-19G).
I plug a SDCARD in the 4in1 card reader.
My windows beeps (like when you plug a usb device).
The 4in1 card reader LED shines.
But the device does not mount in my computer.

yet I have installed the latest driver from lenovo website.

Any idea what is the problem?

Thank you.

Goto START, "RUN.."

Type "diskmgmt.msc" (without ""), and press return.

See if your card is listet in there. If yes, you might have to format it (provided that theres no important data on it).
Or card might contain corrupt data.

EDIT: Or go to device manager, check out if the card reader is installed correctly, but card it self isnt.
Not likely, though.

Thanks for your answer.

I don't see the sdcard in the diskmgmt.msc list.

The card reader seems correctly installed in the device manager, only the card is not.

Where did you get the sd card from? Is there any data on it?

Try formatting the card in a camera, PDA, etc.

Also do state the brand and size of the card. Is it SD or SDHC?

What Windows version are you using?

I got the card from my camera.
I tried it with data on it, with no data on it. I formatted it mounting on another computer that has a linux OS (Ubuntu 9.10).

My camera is unable to format it, an error occurs.

The card is a SDcard Micromedia, 64MB.

The windows version I am using....is windows trust 3...is it allowed to say that here?

I tried with another card, and it mounts, so I guess this one is damaged.

Dunno windows trust 3.. whats that?!

But if your camera cant format it, then its apparently defective.

trust 3 is an unattended windows...

yeah actually I also think that if my camera can't format it, the card is dead, I am putting it in the trash...
