partsLookup

#1 Post by Roisin » Wed Feb 16, 2005 10:56 pm

can someone please use: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... sLookup.vm
to look up any t43 model with a 5400rmp drive, and see the exact model, so we know if it's a 5k80 or a 5k100?
For some reason, i cannot lookup anything with that....

There's no 100GB HD yet listed as being standard in any T43 in the latest TABOOK.PDF.

Your choices for HDs are 5K40, 5K60, 5K80 and 7K60.

That's correct. Just because it is not 100GB does not mean it is not a 5K100-series model drive. The 5K100 drives come in variations from 40GB to 100GB as Roisin pointed out.

I'll have to check...does the TABOOK specify which exact Travelstar model is being used in the T43s? If it can't be determined by parts lookup, it MIGHT be possible to see if 5K100s are even being used at all by seeing whether they are given an FRU in the latest or next edition of the Hardware Maintenance Manual.
