Windows7 on T30

#1 Post by ginopilotino » Thu Nov 19, 2009 5:06 am

My T30 2368-88G now have windows7 ultimate :)

The only things that don't work are buttons for audio.
Everything seems fast as xp, but it's a clean install, only firefox on it.
Anyone else has tried win7 on T30?

I've had it on for a couple of weeks, T30 2366 R7G picked up the audio on the first update from MS.

Best regards

Have you tried doing a windows update???

When I had my T30 and installed W7 I had to hook it up to our router with an ethernet cable. I went to Windows Updates in Control Panel and Windows found the drivers to the audio, wireless card, and graphics driver (may vary on your machine; one ATI 7500 got the VGA compatible driver and the other got the right driver).

The onscreen displays and Fn +F3 (display off) required Systems Inferface driver, Hotkeys Driver, and the Power Management Driver in that order. This may not apply however since you probably went out and bought the retail W7. I'm still running on RC7100.

On retail win7 no need to run winupdate to make t30 to work well, i suppose. It's always connected to internet, so I updated it immediately. But I think I have to install drivers from lenovo to have all buttons works.

The one for t43 doesn't work. The one for t30 an xp works, but in a strange way. Mixer doesn't show volume change but it changes.

Performance are probably a little slower than xp using the same software.
Startup speed is similar, probably a little better, but it's hard to compare, my previous xp was "fat" :)
Advantages ummm probably only a better interface. No aero, of course.
It need a little more memory than xp for everyday use.

I think I will go back to xp and use win7 on one of my other pcs

I forgot to say that presentation director doesn't work at all.
And even screen poweroff doesn't work.

Windows games are incredibly slow

Thanks for the feedback, MS did a great job , if T30s can run it inspite of its age :)

Its time to get win7 and a new PC with lots of RAM and USB 2.0 ...i have not heard anything bad about w7 so far
