x60s - installing a faster WLAN card

I wanted to upgrade my abg card to the newer n-speed card so I purchased an Intel 4965 AGN off of ebay. The card has a FRU of 42T0865 printed on the label so I know that it is made for the Thinkpad and I found the appropriate driver on the x60s driver page. When I install the card and try to boot I get the 1802 error message.

If I want to use this card do I have to install a non-Thinkpad BIOS (like a Zender) or is there some other trick that I don't know about?

Just because it has a FRU doesn't mean Lenovo want to allow you to use it with a x60s.
