Install webcam and WWAN on an x200s WXGA+
Install webcam and WWAN on an x200s WXGA+
Does anyone know if it is possible to install BOTH a webcam (like this one: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... K:MEWAX:IT) and the WWAN antenna (this: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... K:MEWAX:IT) on an x200s that has the WXGA+ (1440x900) display?

Re: Install webcam and WWAN on an x200s WXGA+
I thought about doing the same thing for a while, so I did a bit of research on various forums :
- The WWAN antenna is definitely possible. It has been done before. If I remember correctly it is a little difficult to fit another antenna in there, but it can be done.
- I don't think the webcam is possible though. The screen assembly of the WXGA+ screen is entirely different from the WXGA one, so even the screen bezel with a hole for the webcam will not fit without modifications. The same goes for the webcam itself. Furthermore the WXGA+ screen casing is a bit thinner than the WXGA one, so it is not even sure there is enough room in it to actually put the webcam, let alone attach it.

Thanks for the response. That's pretty much what I figured as well, based on the reading I've done.
Soo it looks like no camera for me. I would like to get the WWAN antennas in at least, but at the moment, I don't feel comfortable enough taking apart the screen assembly. I've already managed to replace my 5100 card with a 5350 card, and now I'm just waiting for my F3507g card to come in. Will try it with a couple of antennas place under the keyboard to see how it works, otherwise, I may have to try and install the antenna kit. (I wish I knew of someone who would be able to do it for me though!)

Re: Install webcam and WWAN on an x200s WXGA+
Hi, if I buy an X200s with the 1280x800 LED screen, can I add an aftermarket webcam in then?
I do not need a WWAN.
Will it matter if I have an ultraconnect 2x2 or ultraconnect 3x3 antenna?
Basically, can I buy any x200s with the 1280x800 resolution and add a webcam in there for $50 on ebay?
I'd appreciate a definitive answer along with how hard such a mod would be :>
It seems that in England you can order an x200s with a webcam, but not in america.
Thank you!

No, not an "aftermarket" webcam. What you can add is an "original" webcam from Lenovo, FRU #42W8015. You need to remove the LCD bezel, which is secured by 3 screws on its lower lip.pufftissue wrote:Hi, if I buy an X200s with the 1280x800 LED screen, can I add an aftermarket webcam in then?
