Mint ThinkPad A22m, original box, docs, receipt, smells new
I have for sale my IBM ThinkPad A22m, machine type and model 2628-P2U, with Intel Pentium III 800 MHz processor, 15-inch TFT screen, original preloaded and recovery partition software, and more, all in the original box with all documentation and purchase receipts. Technical specifications:
Intel mobile Pentium III 800 MHz processor with 256 KB cache
15-inch 1024 × 768 active matrix TFT screen
192 MB 100 MHz SODIMM SDRAM (standard 64 MB, maximum 512 MB)
10 GB EIDE hard disk drive (about 5 GB is free)
24× UltraBay 2000 CD-ROM drive
1.44 MB internal diskette drive
PCI architecture with two type II or one type III CardBus support
Sound Blaster Pro 16 compatible audio with 2 speakers
10/100 IBM EtherJet CardBus adapter
Integrated 56 Kbps modem (V.90 compatible)
4 Mbps infrared port (IRDA compatible)
ATI Rage Mobility M graphics chipset with 4 MB video RAM
72-watt AC adapter with lithium-ion battery
Full size 85-key keyboard
TrackPoint with "Press-to-Select" pointing device
ThinkLight keyboard light
Ports: PS/2 mouse, VGA, serial, parallel, USB, RJ-11, infrared, port replicator
Microsoft Windows 2000
ThinkPad utilities and applications
See the Personal Systems Reference to see this particular ThinkPad's original specifications (go to PDF page 11).
This ThinkPad was ordered direct from IBM and assembled May 2001. I am the original owner and hardly used it. It is in mint condition with all the original packaging material, documents, and purchase receipts for the computer and accessories. When I did use it, I used it like it was a desktop computer. It was always used indoors (never outdoors) on a desk, usually with an external keyboard and mouse attached to it, and sometimes with an external monitor. It's never been on my lap (or anyone else's), it's never been dropped, and no drink or food was consumed near it. There is no wear on the TrackPoint or keyboard (no "shine"). The battery was never used for its intended purpose--I charged it up and drained it maybe three times just to make sure it was still working. Therefore the battery is probably the best conditioned battery from that era you will ever find.
The system came with Microsoft Windows 2000, IBM ThinkPad utilities and applications, and Lotus SmartSuite Millennium license. The original hidden "IBM_SERVICE" recovery partition is still intact and functioning. I restored Windows 2000 and updated it with Windows Update recently with no problems. The computer did not come with any recovery or software selection CDs (apparently not standard issue back then). A Microsoft certificate of authenticity with product keys for Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0 and 2000 is attached on the underside of the system.
The only add-ons to the system is an additional 128 MB SODIMM (added to the standard 64 MB) and an IBM EtherJet CardBus adapter. The original CMOS battery was replaced April 2007 with a new part from IBM Maintenance Parts and Warranty Center. Purchase receipts for these are also included.
There are absolutely no problems with this computer, hardware or software wise. The screen is bright and there doesn't appear to be any dead pixels. I don't even think there is a scratch anywhere on the computer. If you put your nose up to the keyboard, the factory smell is still evident. It's hard to find a traditional ThinkPad with all black keys, no Windows keys, TrackPoint only, and even an internal floppy drive, in hardly-used mint condition with original box, documents, and receipts.

This is really incredible. Takes me back to the years when the PIII 800Mhz was the most powerful CPU you could get and Voodoo 5, the best GPU. This is an incredible piece of hardware, I hope whoever gets it takes as much care of it as you did. Had I had extra money, I'd definitely take it.

Gorgeous. Maybe Lenovo would like to buy it back? Do they have a museum?

Thank you for all the comments. This is a product of little use and my detailed care of it. I still have yet to receive any private messages--it is still available.
I'd like to think IBM already has such a computer in their archives--I hope IBM and Lenovo save examples of their products for historical preservation. This ThinkPad A22m would be a nice addition to any museum.

I think that the reason no one has made any offers is because they are afraid they will scratch/dent/breathe on wrong a beautiful preservation of some of the history of our favorite laptops.

What a beautiful machine from yesteryear.
I know I am a geek for saying this, but such a wonderfully maintained machine takes my breath away and brings back fond memories of the P3 CPU and Windows 2000 simply one of the best operating systems released to date.
If I had $300 I'd be all over this.
Someone buy this and love it as much as it will surely love you in return.
