T30 Re-install now a wireless problem

#1 Post by djsharpie » Sun Nov 22, 2009 1:53 pm

Thank you for reading this.

I have a T30 Type 2366 on which I have reinstalled Windows XP. The disk I used is not the disk that was originally used and I do not have access to that one. The internal wireless is not working and I assume the version of Windows I have installed is not set up to install any wireless drivers??

The network adapter is an Intel(r) PRO/100 VE Network Controller and that has drivers installed and looks to be ok. I have updated the drivers from Intel (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_ ... nldId=4275 )

In Device Manager under ? Other devices, the following are showing the ? and !

Network Controller
PCI Modem
Unknown device - not sure what this is
Video Controller (VGA Controller)

I assume one or more of these is the root of my problem.

Could someone plse help me out.

Thanks in advance

Looks like you are missing drivers for you wireless card, modem, chipset and video. Easiest thing to do is download and install ThinkVantage System Update and let it find and update all your drivers for you, automagically.

Hi Neil

I have downloaded that as directed thank you.

During the instalation I get a warning box which tells me ThinkVantage System Updae could not find a supported .NET Framework"

It then prompts me to OK and then close the wizard before it finishes.

What do you think from here?

Hmmm, is your wireless card the one that was originally installed from the factory? System update usually chooses the correct driver based on your machine serial number in the BIOS. Anyway, if it's a factory card, it's probably one of the two listed HERE, download both and manually install the driver until you find the one that works.

Thank you thank you thank you!!

I appear to have the High rate wireless LAN mini PCI. Driver downloaded and installed as directed.

Thank you again for pointing me in the right direction... My other half wants to marry you as she can be wireless again!
