T400 Has Loose Hinges; Tighten?
My hinges still offer good resistance, but I can bob the screen back forth about one inch. I've torn this thing apart before to replace the bottom carbon fiber piece, and I've completely taken apart the display in a T60, so I should be fine with the screwdriver.
With all that said, is there any way for me to tighten the hinges on this thing?

Is it still under warranty? I have never seen a thinkpad with a loose hinge

My T61 has a similar bob now. What can we do? Should we call the service tech?

Good point. The T400 and T61 are physically 90% identical. Have you asked in that forum?crashnburn wrote:My T61 has a similar bob now. What can we do? Should we call the service tech?

Re: T400 Has Loose Hinges; Tighten?
My 1 year old T400 has the same loose hinge problem, although only for about 1/4 inch to 1/2 play. I called Lenovo before warranty expires and they sent a new set of hinge to me next day. They asked me to send it in, or go the the nearest service centre, but as my warranty was expiring in few day, and I know how to do it, and I ask them to send the parts to me so I can do it myself.
So if the thinkpad still has warranty on it, just send it in to get them replace.
