Pricing T400 vs T400 Enhanced?

#1 Post by Guz » Wed Nov 25, 2009 2:26 pm

Ok, I'm a bit confused about the pricing differences between a T400 Discrete Graphics vs Enhanced T400 Discrete Graphics

For grins and giggles, I went through and configured both systems EXACTLY the same:
------------------------
2764CTO ThinkPad T400:
Intel Core 2 Duo processor P8700 (2.53GHz 1066MHz 3MBL2)1
Genuine Windows 7 Professional 6412
14.1 WXGA+ TFT, w/ LED Backlight
ATI Mobility Radeon 3470 with 256MB
4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)8
UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad)
160 GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm4
DVD Recordable 8x Max Dual Layer, Ultrabay Slim (Serial ATA)5
No Bluetooth
Intel WiFi Link 5100 (AGN) with My WiFi Technology10
Integrated Mobile Broadband upgradable
4 cell Li-Ion Battery60
2764: 1 Year Depot Warranty - TopSeller7
------------------------

The Enhanced T400 Discrete Graphics ends up ~$60 more (with same coupon codes)!?!?!?!

So, what do you really gain by starting off with the "Enhanced" version?

P.S.
I even re-ran using the generic Enhanced T400 Discrete Graphics, then configuring the T400 Discrete Graphics to match. ~$70 difference (Enhanced is more).

Update:

I called the toll free number, and asked the question about the differences and pricing. The person wasn't to sure, so I said lets walk through an order.

First, the generic "Enhanced T400 Discrete Graphics". Ok, price set.

Now go back the Standard "T400 Discrete Graphics", and make it match the Enhanced version. Ok, part numbers, and features match, price... LOWER.

They were stumped. They are sending it up to the web team for investigation. They suggested that I take the lower price one :P
